1. Definitions

"API" means the Coordinated Application Programming Interface, including all endpoints, documentation, SDKs, and related tools made available by Coordinated.

"API Credentials" means the authentication keys, tokens, and other credentials that enable you to access the API.

"Application" or "Integration" means the software, service, or tool you develop that connects to the Coordinated API.

"Instructor Data" means all information related to instructors using Coordinated, including business information, schedules, student data, and financial records.

"Student Data" means information about students enrolled in classes, including personal information, attendance records, and payment details.

"Platform Data" means any data accessed through the API, including Instructor Data, Student Data, component marketplace data, and system data.

2. API License Grant

Subject to these Terms, Coordinated grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access and use the API solely to develop, test, and operate your Application for use with the Coordinated platform.

2.1 Permitted Uses

You may use the API to:

  • Build integrations that enhance the Coordinated platform for instructors and students
  • Create analytics and reporting tools
  • Develop scheduling and calendar integrations
  • Build payment processing and financial management tools
  • Create marketing and communication integrations

2.2 Restrictions

You may NOT:

  • Use the API to replicate Coordinated's core functionality or create a competing platform
  • Attempt to migrate instructors or students away from Coordinated
  • Exceed rate limits or attempt to circumvent usage restrictions
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the API
  • Share or resell API credentials
  • Use the API for benchmarking or competitive analysis
  • Access data you don't have permission to access

3. API Access and Authentication

To access the API, you must register for a developer account and obtain API credentials. You are responsible for:

  • Keeping your API credentials secure and confidential
  • All activity that occurs using your credentials
  • Immediately notifying us of any unauthorized access
  • Implementing proper security measures in your Application

We may revoke your API access at any time for violation of these Terms or for any other reason at our discretion.

4. Rate Limits and Usage

API Rate Limits

Standard tier: 1,000 requests per hour per API key. Contact us for higher limits.

We enforce rate limits to ensure platform stability and fair access for all developers. If you need higher limits, contact our API team at api@coordinated.app.

You must implement proper error handling and respect rate limit responses. Repeatedly exceeding rate limits may result in temporary or permanent suspension of API access.

5. Data Privacy and Security

5.1 Data Handling Requirements

When accessing Platform Data through the API, you must:

  • Only request the minimum data necessary for your Application's functionality
  • Obtain proper consent from instructors before accessing their data
  • Implement industry-standard security measures to protect all data
  • Use encryption for data in transit and at rest
  • Not share, sell, or transfer Platform Data to third parties without explicit permission
  • Comply with all applicable data protection laws (GDPR, CCPA, etc.)

5.2 Data Retention and Deletion

You must delete Platform Data within 30 days when:

  • An instructor disconnects your Application
  • We request deletion of specific data
  • The data is no longer needed for your Application's purpose
  • An instructor or student exercises their right to be forgotten

5.3 Security Breach Notification

You must notify us within 24 hours of discovering any security breach involving Platform Data. Contact us immediately at security@coordinated.app.

6. Intellectual Property

Coordinated retains all rights, title, and interest in the API, platform, and all related intellectual property. Your use of the API does not grant you ownership of any Coordinated IP.

You retain ownership of your Application, but grant us permission to reference your Application in our marketplace and documentation.

Any feedback, suggestions, or improvements you provide about the API become the property of Coordinated and may be used without attribution or compensation.

7. API Changes and Deprecation

We may update, modify, or discontinue the API at any time. We will provide reasonable notice for breaking changes:

  • Major changes: 90 days notice via email and developer dashboard
  • Minor changes: 30 days notice via changelog and documentation
  • Security fixes: Immediate deployment with same-day notification

You are responsible for updating your Application to work with API changes. We recommend monitoring our developer changelog and testing against our staging environment.

8. Compliance and Acceptable Use

Your Application must comply with:

  • Our Acceptable Use Policy
  • All applicable laws and regulations
  • Payment processing regulations (PCI DSS if handling payments)
  • Accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1 Level AA recommended)
  • Data protection regulations in all jurisdictions where you operate

Applications that violate these requirements or engage in harmful behavior will have API access suspended or terminated.

9. Support and SLA

API support is provided via our developer portal and email. We aim for:

  • API Uptime: 99.9% availability
  • Response Time: Under 200ms for most endpoints
  • Support Response: Within 2 business days for standard inquiries

Premium support with faster response times and higher rate limits is available for enterprise partners.

10. Liability and Warranties

THE API IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW:

  • We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free API access
  • We are not liable for damages resulting from API usage or downtime
  • You are responsible for your Application and its use of the API
  • Our total liability is limited to fees paid in the past 12 months

11. Termination

Either party may terminate API access at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access immediately if:

  • You violate these Terms
  • Your Application poses security risks
  • You engage in fraudulent or illegal activity
  • You fail to respond to security or compliance issues

Upon termination, you must immediately cease using the API and delete all Platform Data.
